Makati lauded for Marawi aid

THE Department of Education  (DepEd) lauded the city government of Makati for extending assistance
and support  to schools and learners  of Marawi City. 

This after the  city government of Makati and Barangay San Lorenzo signed memorandum of
agreement, deed of donation and deed of acceptance, and turnover of donations for Marawi on March
8 at the Makati City Hall. 

The city government of Makati donated 2,500 food packs, 5,000 pairs of shoes, 3,608 assorted
uniforms for elementary, 6,120 assorted uniforms for secondary, 3,075 jogging pants, and 5,679 T-
shirts which will be delivered directly by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to the port of Iligan
Moreover, Barangay San Lorenzo donated P4,660,000 for the building of classrooms which
will be deposited under the DepEd DRRM calamity fund
“I also look forward to the time when whether there is disaster or not, we continue to look
at ourselves as Filipinos, as united, and as you know, we are facing not only the challenge of
rebuilding Marawi, but also the challenge of rebuilding the sense of trust and unity in Marawi,
and all these are symbols of our reaching out to them,” Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis
Briones said during her acceptance speech.
Briones wholeheartedly thanked the generosity and thoughtfulness of the people of Makati,
especially for sharing their blessings to the people of Marawi.
The event was also graced by DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla, Makati City Mayor Mar-Len
Abigail Binay-Campos, Atty. Cherry Melodias of the Department of the Interior and Local Government
(DILG), Makati City Schools Division Superintendent Rita Riddle, CESO V, Bgy. Chairman Ernesto
Moya, and other Makati and DepEd officials.
