A retired US Navy officer was arrested for allegedly raping his 16-year-old niece inside an apartelle in Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel identified the retired US Navy man as Manuel Llara, 56, of Unit 5, Town House 39B, Bangar St., New Haven Village, Bgy. Kaligayahan.

The report said that at about 11 a.m. on May 18, 2018, the suspect, together with his 16-year-old niece went to a mall in Fairview to pick up party balloons that he ordered.

However, the balloons were not yet available when they arrived at the store.

Apparently bored of waiting for the balloons, Llara reportedly brought the victim to an apartelle located along Quirino Highway, Bgy. Greater Lagro.

The suspect reportedly threatened the victim that he will kill her if she refuses to have sex with him.

The victim was also told by the suspect to keep their sexual intercourse a secret.

It was learned that the victim immediately talked to her parents and narrated her ordeal.

The victim’s parents sought assistance from the QCPD PS-5 that led to the arrest of the suspect at 4:40 p.m. of the same day.
The suspect will be charged with violation of RA 8353 (Anti-Rape Law).
