FOR challenging barangay watchmen (tanods) in a fight while wielding a knife in Sta. Mesa, Manila, a
drunk 27-year-old man is now behind bars.

Edward Cabanillas, of 4544 Damka St., Sta. Mesa,  has also been charged with concealing deadly
weapon and alarm and scandal.
A probe by the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 8 said that at around 12:30 a.m., barangay
tanods Pedrito Latonio and Roldan Borja were patrolling at the corner of Damka and Waling-Waling
Streets in Sta. Mesa, when they saw the drunk suspect arguing with one Christopher Diaz.
The said barangay officials tried to pacify the suspect but instead of yielding, he angrily
took out a knife tucked in his pants and started challenging the barangay tanods to fight him.
The suspect was overpowered and arrested.
