POLICE arrested a self-confessed drug user who earlier shot and wounded one of the group of men who
mauled him Tuesday afternoon in Caloocan City.
Princillo Batac, 42, was collared by operatives of Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2
at the back of his house on Bagong Sibol St., Bgy. 31, after he jumped out of the window and tried to
run away to elude pursuing cops who were able to track him down after he shot and wounded a certain
Bernardo Ramirez, who was still confined at Caloocan City Medical Center for a gunshot wound in the
Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo said Batac, who was allegedly a known
toughie in their area, was walking along Kawal Street, Bgy. 28, Monday afternoon when a group of men
in the area tried to extort money from him.
When Batac refused to give certain amount, the group of men tried to maul him but he was able
to draw his gun and shot Ramirez, hitting him in the abdomen.
The group of men ganged up on him and wrested the caliber .38 revolver in his possession
until he was able to escape when Ramirez shouted for help when blood oozed from his abdomen.
Modequillo said the arrested suspect underwent rehabilitation for being addicted to illegal
drugs and was only discharged from rehabilitation center in December last year.
Batac is now facing charges of frustrated murder and violation of RA 10591 or the
Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
