AN alleged hitman of a drug group was killed after he traded shots with Pasig police during a buy-bust operation in the city yesterday morning.

Reports submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba by Pasig police chief Senior Supt. Rizalito Gapas Jr. identified the slain suspect only as alias “Aba”.

Initial investigation showed that prior to encounter, members of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) headed by Senior Insp. Alvin Perlas conducted a buy-bust operation along P. Tranex Street, Bgy. Rosario, at around 2 a.m.

The operation was based on information that the suspect was involved in drug peddling activities in the city and an alleged hitman.

Perlas said an undercover cop transacted with the suspect and was able to buy a sachet of illegal drug.

However, the suspect sensed he was dealing with a policeman so he pulled out a gun and fired shots at the cop as he tried to escape.

Other policemen positioned in the area were forced to retaliate, hitting the suspect in the body.

Police said the suspect was rushed to the Rizal Medical Center (RMC) but was declared dead on arrival due to three gunshot wounds.

Recovered from the suspect was a .45-caliber gun and 10 sachets of suspected shabu found in his pocket.

Based also on intelligence report, Perlas said the suspect was a hitman of a drug syndicate who kills drug personalities who failed to remit drug money.

Police added that the suspect was tagged in the killing of a drug personality in Bgy. Palatiw last September.
