A Korean national, said to be neck-deep in casino debts, reportedly committed suicide by hanging in
Malate, Manila, the other night.

PO2 Jonathan Ruiz of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section identified the Korean as
Tae Hyun Kim, alias ‘Hero’, 35, of 805 Echelon Tower, Mabini St., Malate.
Police said housekeeper Olivia de Paz found the victim dead inside the master’s bedroom at
around 7 p.m.
De Paz was said to have opened the door using a master key to do her usual cleaning chores
when he found the victim on top of the bed hanging by the neck.

A suicide note written in Korean was found and translated by his cousin Heegon Kim.
The victim said that he had been gambling in the casino and that he owed a lot of people a
lot of money. He also apologized to his mother for what he had done.
It was learned that  the victim had been working in a KTV bar at the Ambassador Hotel for a
year now. He was last seen alive last February 11 while on his way to work.
