THE Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) deferred the arraignment of the 10 members of the Aegis Juris Fraternity who are facing charges in connection with the hazing death of UST law freshman Horacio ‘Atio’ Castillo III.

It was learned that the arraignment was slated yesterday at the Manila RTC Branch 20 for accused Ralph Trangia, Arvin Balag, Oliver John Audrey Onofre, Mhin Wei Chan, Danielle Hans Matthew Rodrigo, Joshua Joriel Macabali, Axel Munrio Hipe, Marcelino Bagtang, Jose Miguel Salamat and Robin Ramos but this was deferred owing to a petition for review filed by Trangia and which pends before the Department of Justice (DoJ).

All of the accused were wearing detainee shirts provided by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) when they appeared at the court at 10 a.m.

The hearing lasted only a few minutes after which they were transported back to the NBI.
Present in the court were Castillo’s parents and sister.

It will be recalled that the said accused surrendered to the NBI after the court issued a warrant of arrest against them.
