A couple, who were on their way home from the market, were killed in an ambush perpetrated by riding-in-tandem criminals yesterday morning in Caloocan City.

Justine Bangay, 45, and his wife Margarita, 32, both of Phase 7A, Package 10, Bgy. 176, Bagong Silang, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies while the unidentified gunmen on board two motorcycles sped away after the killing.

Caloocan Police North Extension Office (NEO) investigator PO1 John Ree Bello said in his report that the couple were riding an SYM motorcycle (6577-PQ) driven by Justine and travelling along Phase 7, Bagong Silang when four armed men onboard two motorcycles blocked their path in front of Tala Cemetery.

The suspects pulled out an unknown caliber of firearms and shot the couple.

Chief Insp. Liza Rillo of Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered three empty shells and two deformed slugs for unknown caliber of firearm which will be submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Police are still establishing the motive behind the killing and verifying information they received that Justine was allegedly a driver bodyguard of Caloocan district 1 Rep. Along Malapitan.
