Cocaine-using Manila cop busted

ALL Saints’ Day 2019 will be remembered forever by this Manila policeman who was caught sniffing cocaine inside the comfort room of a club in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City shortly before midnight Wednesday. He is now set to be dismissed from the police force on orders of National Capital Region Police Office chief, Director Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar.

Police Officer 1 Redentor Gatdula Bautista, a 34-year old Manila Police District Station 1 member residing at no. 001 Herbosa Street in Tondo, Manila found himself in trouble after a bouncer of Island Place Club along 9th Avenue corner 38th St. in BGC chanced upon him using cocaine at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Southern Police District director, Senior Superintendent Eliseo DC Cruz said the club management immediately called on the Taguig City Police-Community Precinct 7 and turned the Manila policeman over to them for proper disposition.

He also commended the club’s bouncer identified as Garry Palma,40, for performing his duty without fear or any reservation.

Cruz said a transparent plastic ziplock containing white substance suspected to be cocaine and one small cut straw were recovered from the possession of the cop. The drug weighed 0.4 gram when examined at the Crime Laboratory.

He said PO1 Bautista was subjected to a drug test while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 are being readied against him.

Cruz said that he has also informed MPD director, Chief Supt. Rolando B. Anduyan of the arrest of Bautista who will  likewise face administrative charges for grave misconduct.
