THREE vendors of smut pornographic materials, including pirated x-rated DVDs and CDs, were arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Office of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Quezon City Police District in separate operations in Project 7 and Cubao on Tuesday, officials said yesterday.

Two of the suspects identified as Gerry Pingot Jr., 22, and Edward Lacro, 21, both of Danga Street corner Roosevelt, Project 7, QC, were arrested by members of the QC District Field Unit of the PNP-CIDG headed by Chief Insp. Garman Manabat and the QCPD District Special Operations Unit in their neighborhood at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Seized from the suspects were 521 pirated DVDs, 171 of them pornographic materials, and two DVD players with a total market value of P25,000.

Another operation in Bgy. Martin de Porres in Cubao at 5:30 p.m. led to the arrest of Omairha Lumbaya, 22, of 85 Montreal St., E. Rodriguez, Cubao. The suspect yielded 284 counterfeit DVDs, 34 of them pornographic, one DVD player and a television set.

The trio were identified as alleged members of the ‘Roger Orsa Group’ engaged in the sale and exhibition of obscene copies of DVDs in Metro Manila.

CIDG-NCR chief Senior Supt. Eleazar Matta said the three were brought to the QCDFU for booking and filing of charges for violation of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 9239 or the Optical Media Act.
