Caloocan cops nab 10 fake STL agents

TEN illegal gambling personalities claiming to be agents of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes (PCSO) Small Town Lottery (STL) were arrested by authorities in an anti-gambling operation Friday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Northern Police District (NPD) Deputy Director for Administration Sr. Supt. Ariel Arcinas identified the arrested suspects as Eddie Yap, 50, the alleged operator, Consolacion Cabale, 51, the alleged “cabo” Marjorie Labado, 32, sales representative, Mylan De Vera, 36, employee, Christopher Baltazar, 42, employee, Mark Angel Galeon, 28, checker, Peter Christian Mondero, 21, collector, and bet collectors Lito Vicuña, 48,  Edilyn Pedragas, 55 and Eleuterio Salugta, 71

Sr. Supt. Arcinas said the raid was conducted by elements of NPD District Special Operation

Unit (DSOU) led by SPO3 Celso Sorita in Sampalok Street, Area D, Brgy. 178 received around 5:30 p.m. a tip regarding the illegal lotteng operation.

Police said the group, who claimed to be agents of PCSO, were accepting bets using the logo of the agency’s STL to prove that they were legal operators.

However, upon verification, the arrested operator and his “cabo” failed to present any identification and authority from the PCSO.

Police seized from the suspects several pieces of Collection Report Form with PCSO logo, bet tickets, lottery booklets, calculator, and P2,500 bet money.
