A private bodyguard of a barangay captain was ambushed by riding-in-tandem criminals yesterday morning
in Caloocan City.
Carlito Ramirez, of legal age, private bodyguard of Barangay Chairman Joel Bacolod, of Bgy.
176, Bagong Silang, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head and body while his wife, whose
name was temporarily withheld for security reasons, escaped unhurt.
A sketchy report showed that Ramirez and his wife were onboard a motorcycle and travelling
along Phase VIII, Bgy. 178, at around 8 a.m. when riding-in-tandem suspects blocked their path.
Sensing danger, Ramirez tried to turn around his motorcycle but the suspects fired successive
shots, hitting him in the body.
Though wounded, the victim was able to tell his wife to run away while the suspects continued
to fire at Ramirez, causing his instantaneous death. The suspects then sped away.
Barangay officials in Bagong Silang are still facing a blank wall as to the motive behind the
killing since Ramirez was a good man and active in the war against illegal drugs and other criminal
activities in their barangay.
Operatives of the Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 are still conducting a follow-up
investigation for possible identification and arrest of the suspects. They are in the process of
coordinating with Chairman Bacolod as well as reviewing the footage of the CCTV cameras in the area
that possibly captured the incident.
