BuCor exec killed in ambush

A Bureau of Correction (BuCor) official was killed in an ambush perpetrated by unidentified suspects shortly after midnight yesterday in Muntinlupa City.

Insp. Nimencio San Gabriel, 55, assigned at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) and resident of 151 Sitio San Antonio, Poblacion, Muntinlupa City, succumbed to bullet wounds in the head and body while being rushed to Medical Center of Muntinlupa.

Muntinlupa police chief Senior Supt. Jerry Umayao said the incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. at the corner of Arellano and Cagiao Streets, Katarungan Village 1, Bgy. Poblacion.

Insp. San Gabriel was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle with “For Registration” plate when an unidentified vehicle without plate number blocked his path and fired successive shots, hitting him in the head and body.

The suspects then sped away while bystanders rushed the victim to the hospital.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered at the crime scene four empty shells for unknown caliber of firearm.

Senior Supt. Umayao said they are still conducting a follow-up operation for possible identification and arrest of the suspects while the motive behind the killing is yet to be determined.
