BALER, Aurora -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) here yesterday said full-scale public safety operations went underway over the weekend as transient students from Metro Manila began flock to the provinces at the closing of school year.
Provincial director Senior Supt. Randolf Balonglong said round-the-clock security patrols began as PNP Oplan SumVac 2017 shifted gear in anticipation of volume of tourists in the province of the anticipated Holy Week retreat this week.
Balonglong instructed all eight station commanders to maintain peace and order and ensure the safety of the general public.
“I have already ordered all eight station commanders to mobilize their vacation,” Balonglong said.
He said the law enforcers should also be on the lookout for “Akyat-Bahay Gang” members, who prey on unattended houses, as well as pickpockets in crowded areas like terminals and beaches.
He urged barangay officials to also deploy their force multipliers to help maintain peace and order in their communities.
“We are undertaking all the necessary strategies and measures on our end for solemn and peaceful observance of the Lenten season,” Balonglong said.
