Arrested stude shoves cop, held again after brief chase

A 20-year-old student, who was earlier arrested for violation of a city ordinance, tried to escape by shoving one of the arresting officers out of the mobile patrol car shortly after midnight yesterday in Malabon City.

Hermilo Landero, 20, of 4th St., Delos Santos, Bgy. Tonsuya, will be charged with direct assault, resisting arrest and violation of city ordinance before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office when he was arrested again after a brief chase.

Malabon police investigators PO3 Julius Mabasa and PO3 Alcee Jumaquio said that at 12:40 a.m., elements of PCP-5 composed of SPO1 Bobby de Guzman, PO1 Ernel Tanghal and PO1 Eldrin Mark Agana brought the suspect to Ospital ng Malabon for medical examination after he was caught drinking in public place.

While on their way back to Malabon police headquarters, the suspect pushed SPO1 De Guzman, who was sitting at the back, out of the mobile patrol causing him to fall on the pavement and incurred injuries in his body and damaged of his holster and uniform.

Landero tried to escape by jumping out of the patrol car but PO1 Tanghal and PO1 Agana chased him and cornered him on Sanciangco St.
