A DRUG addict, who was said to have been caught in the act by the police while taking drugs, ended up dead when a shooting encounter allegedly ensued during a police operation of the Station Drugs Enforcement Team-Police Station 1 (SDET-PS1) in Tondo, Manila, the other night.

PO2 Jonathan Ruiz of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section, identified the alleged suspect as Donato Isip, of 2800 Benita St., Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila.
Police said that at around 9 p.m., a text message was received by the MPD-PS1 Hotline 8888, saying the suspect’s house was being used for drug session.
A police team, led by Chief Insp. Gilbert Cruz responded. When they came to the suspect’s house, they said that the latter was caught in the act of sniffing shabu while shirtless and with a gun tucked on his waist.
Police said when they introduced themselves as cops, the suspect drew his gun and traded shots with the team, killing him instantly.
A .45 cal. gun, four sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia were reportedly confiscated from him.
