BEAUTY is indeed ageless as Navoteña grandmothers took the stage for the Gandang Lola 2018 pageant.

Rosenda Cruz, 64, resident of Bgy. Tanza II, took home the crown and bested 11 other contestants vying for the title. She also won the awards for Best in Talent and Best in Opening Wear.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco, together with Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Navotas, Inc. (FSCANI) President Lucy Batto and Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs Chairperson Linda Ramirez, donned the Gandang Lola crown to Cruz.

The mayor and his brother, Cong. Toby Tiangco, both expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Navoteño elderly for their continued contribution to the city’s progress.

Other titlists included Edna Santiago, 66, from Bgy. San Roque, who won 1st runner-up; Fe Victoria Balog, 64, from Bgy. San Jose, second runner-up; and Leogarda Laquindanum, 69, from Navotas West, third runner-up.

Balog also received the title as Best in Long Gown, Ms. Congeniality and Ms. Ever Bilena.

Laquindanum was given the Chairman’s Choice Award, while Estela Cruz, 77, from Bgy. Sipac Almacen, was named Ms. Photogenic.

The crowned Gandang Lola 2018 received P10,000 and gift certificates from Pia’s restaurant and Ever Bilena. Other winners also received cash prizes and gift certificates.

The Gandang Lola pageant served as the culmination of the week-long celebration in honor of elderly Filipinos.

Earlier, the FSCANI held a parlor game for grandparents and their grandchildren, and pneumoccocal vaccination for Navoteño senior citizens.
