SIX policemen and several members of a militant group were wounded during a clash in Manila yesterday.
The rallyists reportedly attempted to get near the US Embassy and the Philippine International
Convention Center (PICC), both on Roxas Boulevard in Ermita, Manila, during the start of the 31st
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit yesterday.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde said the cops sustained
minor injuries and received immediate treatment.
A report from the Manila Police District (MPD) said that at around 10 a.m., the rallyists were
rebuffed with the use of water canons as they tried to go near the US Embassy and the PICC by breaking
the police barrier.
It was learned that the rallyists threw bottles at the police, injuring six of them.
