50 rounded up for drugs in QC

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. reported that 50 drug suspects were rounded up and rescued a minor during a series of drug buy-bust operations in four drug dens yesterday in Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City.

Esquivel said the operations were an offshoot of previous anti-drug operations by PS 7 which pointed Sitio San Roque in Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa as the source of illegal drugs.

After conducting surveillance, simultaneous operations were conducted in the area that led to the arrest of the suspects, 24 of whom were residents of Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa, eight from Cubao area and the rest from different places.

At about 7 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2018, the operatives set a buy-bust against Zenaida Masdo, 58, and Alma Lopez, 41, at 115 Libra St., Sitio San Roque, Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa, that led to their arrest along with nine others, who were caught sniffing shabu.  Confiscated from the suspects were five sachets of shabu, an opened sachet with traces of shabu, several drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.

Thirteen other suspects were caught in another buy-bust operations at 103 Aries St., Sitio San Roque, Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa. Seized were 16 sachets of shabu, an opened sachet with traces of shabu, drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, 11 other suspects were also caught in the act of sniffing shabu at 45 Aries St., Sitio San Roque, Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa. Seized from them were three sachets of shabu, two open sachets with traces of shabu and several drug paraphernalia.

Eight other suspects were also caught having a shabu session inside another shanty in Sitio San Roque, Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa. Seized were six sachets of shabu, two plastic sachets with traces of shabu and several drug paraphernalia.

In another shanty in the same area, seven more suspects were caught sniffing shabu. Confiscated were four sachets of shabu, an opened plastic sachet with traces of shabu and several drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were brought to PS 7 and were charged with violation of RA 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Esquivel lauded the efforts of PS 7 and PDEA personnel for the arrest of the suspects and busting of the drug dens.
