FOUR  men, including an employee who connived in robbing a warehouse of more than P600,000 assorted perfume, were nabbed by elements of the Mandaluyong police during an entrapment operation yesterday morning.

Senior Supt. Joaquin Alva, Mandaluyong police chief, identified the suspects as Leopher Arot, 22, and Cedrik Homom 24, driver, both of Bgy. Granados, Cavite; Ronald Rivera, 27, of 1157 Antipolo City, and Ramil Mercede, 27, warehouseman, of Las Piñas City.

The four suspects were nabbed by Mandaluyong Police Intelligence Unit at the Scent and Beaute warehouse at 32 Calinasan St., Bgy. Plainview at 2:20 a.m.

According to Chief Insp. dela Rosa, Mandaluyong Criminal Investigation chief, the arrest was made after  security guard Ronan Romano was convinced by the suspects to connive with them in robbing the said warehouse.

Romano pretended to agree with the suspects but  he earlier informed his superior, who sought assistance from Mandaluyong police.

“Kinumbinsi nila ’yung bagong guard ng bodega na makipagtulungn sa kanila. Sinubukan nilang makuha ang loob ng panibagong guwardya na nakipag-ayos naman pero hindi alam ng mga suspect na nagsumbong ito sa mga otoridad na nagkasa naman ng entrapment operation,” Dela Rosa said.
Police said the suspects slipped out the boxes of “Aspen” brand perfume from the warehouse and loaded them in a Toyota Vios (ABL-3577) with a Philippine National Police (PNP) commemorative plate number when police arrested them.
Authorities recovered the boxes of perfume worth  P666,528.
The robbery took place past midnight wherein former  guards  allowed other cohorts to enter the premises and helped each other in loading the items inside their vehicle before leaving the warehouse.
Dela Rosa said the robbery was first discovered recently after the company  conducted an inventory and found out that boxes of perfume were missing. The former guards connived  with the suspects.
Authorities said the suspects paid the duty security guards P40,000 for their participation.
The suspects admitted during interrogation that they had robbed the warehouse twice, the first incident happened this year with the same modus.
Mercede was charged with qualified theft while his three cohorts, who were detained at the Mandaluyong police detention cell, are facing theft charges.
