FOUR persons -- including a woman -- said to be responsible for a series of incidents involving theft of motorcycles in Tondo, Manila, were nabbed by authorities during a follow-up operation the other night.
Supt. Jerry Corpuz, station commander of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 7, identified the four as Alexander Banzuelo, 20, of Room 313, Building 21, Balut Street; Vanessa de Mesa, 30, of 516 Benita Street; Jayson Laquindanum, 32, of Room 224, Building 20, Balut Street and Ronald Encarnado, 38, of 516 Benita Street, all in Tondo. Reportedly, the four were identified as the ones behind a number of motorcycle theft incidents in various parts of Tondo.
On two occasions, they were said to have been caught on camera while stealing, with De Mesa serving as the lookout while Encarnado checks on the targeted vehicles.
Police said Banzuelo and Laquindanum are in charge of selling the stolen motorcycles.
The latest incident was said to have taken place at around 8:30 p.m. of April 14 on Antipolo Street, where the motorcycle of victim Aldec John Padua was stolen.
Based on Padua’s complaint, a follow-up operation was conducted resulting in the suspects’ arrest at around 8:30 p.m. the other night at the corner of Dagupan and Moriones Streets in Tondo. Police said they also confiscated from the suspects a .45 cal. gun with six live ammunition, two knives and three .9mm bullets.
