3 pushers die in shootout

AUTHORITIES gunned down two suspected drug pushers and arrested two women in a raid by police on a suspected drug den yesterday before dawn in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna identified the slain suspects as Aldrin Barcela, about 30 to 35 years old and Percival Garcia, about 35 to 40 years old and allegedly the maintainer of the drug den at Phase 9 Package 7C Block 13 Lot 1 & 2, Bgy. 176, Bagong Silang.

Two other suspects, identified as Katrina Bermudez, 30, and her younger sister Claire, 23, were arrested by policemen while three others whose identities have yet to be determined managed to escape.

Last Friday evening, two drug personalities were killed by policemen in separate anti-illegal drug operations also in Caloocan City.

Frank Bernas alias “Boy Komang,” 37, of 3rd Avenue, Bgy. 118, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the body while his cohorts identified only by their aliases as Rod, Okoy and Kalbo managed to escape during the exchange of gunfire.
