THREE more barangays in Pasig City were recently declared drug free.
The oversight committee composed of Philppine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Anti-Illegal Drug Abuse Council of Pasig City headed by Mayor Bobby Eusebio and Council declared barangays San Jose, Sumilang and San Nicolas as “cleared” of illegal drugs.
Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula said EPD the three barangays met the criteria set in Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No 2 series of 2007 which includes non-availability of drug supply, absence of clandestine warehouse, less drug pusher and user, number of arrest, number of surrenderees, active involvement of barangay officials in anti-drug activities and other parameters set.
Fund support amounting to P500,000 from the City Government of Pasig was given to the barangay chairmen and BADAC of the barangays to be used in their continued anti-illegal drug campaign and other programs that can help in keeping their barangay drug free.
However, if there are new drug related incidents in any of the three barangays, the barangay will revert from drug-cleared to drug-affected barangay.
The three barangays will still be subjected to continuous validation and monitoring by the Pasig City police and the oversight committee to avoid possible occurence of illegal drug transactions.
