3 held for transporting counterfeit LPG tanks

Authorities arrested three suspects after they were caught transporting counterfeit liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified those arrested as Jayson Lachica, 25, Elmer Venanciano, 21, and Allan Gardose, 18, all of Bgy. Salapan, San Juan City.

A report said representatives from the ISLA LPG Corporation sought help from operatives of District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) regarding the proliferation of fake LPG products.

At 8:30 a.m. last June 20, along E. Rodriguez Avenue, Bgy. Tatalon, operatives of DSOU conducted an operation and caught the suspects transporting LPG products using an unauthorized delivery vehicle.

Confiscated from the suspects were 30 assorted 11-kilogram cylinder tanks, 21 2.7-kg. LPG tanks, a 22-kg. LPG cylinder tank, 34 unauthorized cylinder plastic seals, a fire extinguisher, two delivery receipts from TRIPLE A LPG refilling, and a white Mitsubishi L-300 (WLP 526).

Further verification showed that the LPG tanks have been illegally refilled and were found to have fake seal.

Police also seized from the suspects a delivery receipt dated June 19, 2018 for 62 LPG tanks worth P21,474.20 addressed to a certain Terkol.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Batas Pambansa Bilang 33 as amended by PD 1865, short selling and adulteration of petroleum products and other acts in the definition of prohibited acts, increasing the penalties therein, and for other purposes.
