THE Regional Special Operation Unit of National Capital Region Police Office (RSOU-NCRPO) arrested two towing crewmen and their barangay watchman cohort who were accused of extorting money from the owner of cargo truck in an entrapment operation shortly after midnight yesterday in Makati City.

NCRPO chief Director Guillermo Eleazar identified those arrested as Reynaldo Grencio, 42, of Lot 1, Block 13, Makati Home B, Calauan, Laguna; Janimie Carla de Leon, 27, of Block 53, Lot 137, Calauan, Laguna; both crewmen of NJP Towing Services and barangay watchman Roberto Garcia, 49, of 2285, P. Binay St., Bgy. Bangkal, Makati City.

Earlier, Alwyn Calalang, owner of Giga cargo truck (RHT) 150) and Fidel Pineda, 25, driver, sought the assistance of RSOU after the suspects forcibly towed the cargo truck and demanded P8,500 for its release.

The suspects also stole the truck’s two ignition keys and battery after they temporarily parked the towed truck along Osmeña Highway near Magallanes Interchange while negotiating with the owner on the amount they demanded for the release of the cargo truck.

Calalang said the amount  was later reduced to P7,000.

Elements of RSOU led by Chief Insp. Paterno Domondon Jr. conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of Crencio and De Leon and later on Garcia.
