TWO suspected drug pushers were killed in an armed encounter with policemen reportedly during the conduct of a buy-bust operation in Tondo, Manila, early yesterday morning.

A report from the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 2 identified the two only through their aliases as ‘Raymart Mendoza’ and  ’Boy’.

Police said that at around 1:45 a.m., a buy-bust operation was carried out by operatives from the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the MPD-Station 2 on Road 10 in Tondo.

Mendoza was said to have suspected that the buyer was a cop so he took out his gun and fired, but missed. Mendoza then boarded a motorcycle being driven by Boy and together, they sped toward Delpan Bridge.

Police gave chase until the two suspects were cornered at Gate 14 of Parola Compound in Tondo at around 2 a.m.

Instead of giving up, the two were said to have engaged the police in a shootout, resulting in their instantaneous death.

Police said recovered from the two suspects were two cal. .38 guns and six sachets of shabu.
