TWO minors aged 16 and 17 were arrested by policemen after they were caught carrying an air-conditioning unit they stole from the police outpost Thursday night in Malabon City.
Malabon police investigator PO2 Rockymar Binayug said the 17-year-old thief, of Muzon Pabahay, Bulacan, and his 16-year- old cohort from Bagong Bato, Camachile, Quezon City, were turned over to the Bahay Sandigan, a local social worker, for protective custody.
Investigation showed that PO1 Arbis Baligod and PO1 John Evans Alcido, of Malabon Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2 outpost, were on routine patrol at 7:30 p.m. when the two minors forcibly barged into the outpost by destroying its door padlock.
Once inside, they tried to look for valuable items but when they failed to find anything, they forcibly detached the air-conditioning unit.
The two minors were on their way to escape when PO1 Baligod and PO1 Alcido, who returned from patrol, caught them escaping with the air-conditioning unit worth P4,000 they stole from the outpost, resulting in their arrest. When frisked, the two yielded a kitchen knife tucked in their waists.
