2 dead in Las Piñas, Parañaque mishaps

A trike driver and a four-year-old girl died while two pedestrians were injured when they were
sideswiped by speeding car in separate vehicular accidents in Las Piñas and Parañaque cities.

Police said Rosario Castro, who was driving his trike, was pronounced dead on arrival at Las
Piñas District Hospital after his vehicle was sideswiped by a speeding sedan. They said the incident
took place at 3:30 a.m. on Marcos Alvarez Road, in front of Arco Building, Bgy. Talon 5.
Witnesses told police that the victim was thrown off his trike and landed on his head on the
concrete road when hit by the speeding sedan which hurriedly sped away.
In Parañaque, Princess Merrielyn Marcelo, 4, was pronounced dead on arrival at Ospital ng
Parañaque due to severe body injuries while Nickie Josh Orosco, 8, and Jowena Siguisabal, 28, both
of 8067 Interior Pelaez St., Bgy. San Dioniso, were seriously injured when they were hit by the
speeding Mitsubishi Lancer sedan (UDC 307) driven by Abraham Tria, 53, of Block 5, Lot 10,  Ecotrend
Subdivision, Ph-1, Bacoor, Cavite.
Reports from the Southern Police District (SPD) said the incident took place at 8 p.m. while
the victims were walking along Quirino Avenue, Bgy. San Dionisio.
