Sales of local automotive vehicles grew double digit in the first quarter ending March this year.
Data from Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. and Truck Manufacturers Association released Monday show that their combined sales for January to March 2017 went up by 23 percent to 94,026 units from 76,473 units in Q1 2016.
Sales in March alone rose 32.9 percent to 36,561 units this year from 27,515 units in March 2016.
Growth of commercial vehicles accelerated faster than passenger cars’ sales growth last month.
Commercial vehicles sold a total of 24,708 units in March 2017, increasing by 52.8 percent from last year’s sales of 16,170 units.
Light commercial vehicles had the largest share in sales last month, reaching 16,271 units, followed by Asian utility vehicles with 6,921 unit sales, and light trucks with 1,014 units, while trucks and buses categories four and five at 365 and 137 units, respectively.
