THE joint Department of Energy-Department of Justice task force meets this week with representatives of oil companies to listen to their concerns over the price freeze on petroleum products. Deputy Presidential Spokesman Anthony Golez said this will also be an opportunity for the oil firms to hear the government’s position over the need to protect the right of consumers especially in times of calamity. Golez stressed that the implementation of the price freeze which reverts oil prices to the Oct. 15 levels as provided under Executive Order 839 is but a temporary measure. “Para makatulong lang naman (sa mga consumers),” he said While defending the price freeze on oil products at least while Luzon is still under a state of calamity due to the devastation wrought by typhoons “Ondoy” and “Pepeng,” Malacañang had said it is always open to dialogues with oil companies.
