AN 18-YEAR-OLD member of the New People’s Army surrendered to Army officials in Laak, Compostela Valley Friday saying he is tired of hiding in the mountains and want to return to mainstream society, officials said yesterday.

Kayogkog Gubaton, a resident of Bgy. Melale in Laak Municipality yielded to officials of the Army’s 9th Special Force Company following weeks of negotiations, said Police Regional Office 11 director C/Supt. Pedro Tango.

The teenaged rebel was described as a member of the NPA’s Southern Mindanao Regional Committee operating in Laak.  He is now under the custody of the 9th Special Forces, Tango said.    Alfred Dalizon
