CONCEPCION, Tarlac – The Liberal Party launched  its campaign in this historical town where standard-bearer Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III hails from.

In welcoming the Aquino-Mar Roxas tandem, supporters painted the town yellow with the Aquinos’ trademark yellow ribbons decorating streets and houses.

Aquino and Roxas along with their senatorial line-up started the day with a mass at the jampacked La Concepcion church with Archbishop Florentino Senense and 18 priests in full attendance.

After the mass, Aquino led his team to the nearby public market where they vowed to make government corruption-free once he gets the nod of the electorate.

Describing the present situation as “oras de peligro,” the presidential wannabe said it is now time to unite and fight the scourge of society as their slogan proclaims: “Kapag walang corrupt, walang mahirap.”

“Nagsama-sama na ang puwersa ng kadiliman,” Aquino said, apparently referring to the reported unholy alliance of Malacañang and his closest rival Manny Villar.

However, during a press conference at his ancestral house, the LP presidential bet said when asked about the supposed unholy alliance, “Nagsama-sama ang mga gustong mapapanatili ang mga maling pamamalakad sa gobyerno,” adding that these people began ganging up on him ever since he announced his plan to run for the highest post of the land.

Aquino also promised that giving Hacienda Luisita to its tenants the soonest possible time will be his top priority.

“However, we cannot just transfer land to a farmer and say ‘I am done with you’.”

Aquino said what he wanted “is to teach a farmer until he becomes a manager, becomes agriculture business planner.” He added he wants to distribute the Hacienda’s 450,000 hectares to the 10,000 farmers when  the estate is already “clean,,” meaning the bank debts have been fully paid.

Aquino surprised his supporters when he did a rap number on stage to the delight of the crowd estimated at more or less 2,000.

No, he was not rapping campaign speech lines but the lyrics of his infomercial to rebut his closest rival Villar’s claim that it was not Noynoy who did the ads.

Some who knew the lyrics joined Noynoy. It goes like this : “Baguhin ang buhay, maglilingkod sa inyo. Buong mundo ipagmalaki mo, tayo’y Filipino. Baguhin ang buhay, maglilingkod sa inyo. Buong mundo, ipagmalaki mo, tayo’y Filipino.”

Capas was the second stop of the Liberal Party’s sortie. Noynoy told the people that if he wins in the 2010 elections, he will impose no new taxes which he said would push the people down.

Meanwhile, Roxas described the election as a fight between the moneyed and the poor as he urged a text brigade to win at least one or two voters for the LP bets.

“Mabigat ang laban, maraming pera ang kalaban, kaya kailangan sa loob ng 90 days ay makakumbinsi kayo ng isa o dalawang botante sa pamamagitan ng text,” the vice presidential hopeful said.
