SEVERE disciplinary actions will be meted against anyone who facilitates the entry of illegal aliens into the country.
This warning was issued yesterday to airport immigration officers by Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Ricardo David Jr., as he stressed that any bureau personnel who defies his order will be dealt with sanctions including suspension and dismissal from the service for grave misconduct.
David bolstered the warning with a strongly-worded memorandum order he issued, where he ruled that no foreigner deemed as “excludable” under the Philippine Immigration Act shall be allowed entry without the BI chief’s prior approval or authorization.
“No waiver of exclusion shall be implemented even if any of his authorized representatives would call the airport on his behalf and order the admission of the concerned foreign passenger,” he said.
Thus, confirmation must first be obtained from him if indeed, he has given an order to admit the subject foreigner into the country or not.
“Henceforth, all foreigners deemed as excludable under the law must first secure a written waiver of exclusion from the office of the BI commissioner and pay the necessary fees to the government,” the order stated.
It was learned that David’s memorandum came as an offshoot of a report that immigration officers at the NAIA recently allowed the entry of two Indian nationals with spurious entry visas. No less than the foreign affairs department has reportedly confirmed that the Philippine visas stamped on the passports of the Indian nationals are spurious.
The said incident allegedly happened last April 21 when the Indians arrived at the said airport from Malaysia.
