LIVE thru the old Constabulary ideals of “always outnumbered but never outfought.”
This is what Philippine National Police chief, Director General Raul M. Bacalzo, is trying to instill in the minds of police officers and men in the countryside in the wake of the successful New People’s Army raid in Bukidnon which came weeks after police had foiled two similar attacks.
The daring raid at the Malitbog Municipal Police Station in Bukidnon irked Bacalzo that he ordered the administrative relief of Bukidnon Police Provincial Office director, Senior Supt. Cristeto Rey Gonzalodo, and the chief of the Malitbog police station, Senior Inspector Alexander Eugenio.
Bacalzo said the two officials are now undergoing investigation for apparent neglect of duty, operational lapses and command responsibility leading to that unfortunate incident that could have been prevented had the local PNP units heeded the guidance of National Headquarters to maintain operational readiness and initiate a pro-active defensive posture against possible hostilities by domestic threat groups specifically the NPA.
About 20 heavily-armed NPA rebels overran the Malitbog Municipal Police Station and fled with eight high-powered rifles, three pistols, assorted ammunition, two desktop computers, radio transceivers, and personal valuables.
