SAN Antonio, Nueva Ecija -- A 49-year-old operations manager of a bus company operating in this town was gunned down by an unidentified motorcycle-riding assassin last Thursday night.
Town police commander Senior Insp. Arnel S. Aguilar identified the slain victim as Rodrigo Manio, operations manager of Five Star Bus Company, of Bgy. Poblacion, this town.
The gun attack occurred at 7:20 p.m. in Purok 1, Bgy. Luyos, where the victim attended a barangay fiesta.
Police said Manio was on his way home driving a motorcycle when the gunman with a bull cap on board a motorcycle suddenly appeared and shot him several times in the head and body.
The victim was still able to drive a few meters away until he swerved and collided with an approaching motorcycle driven by a kid, identified as Nickson Halup.
Aguilar said the wounded victim was rushed to San Antonio District Hospital and later moved to the Gonzales General Hospital in San Leonardo where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives team recovered three fired cartridge cases for cal. 45 at the crime scene.
Follow-up operations are still being conducted for possible identification and arrest of the suspect.
