2 Indian nationals shot dead

TWO Indian nationals were shot dead by two armed men the other day in Lupi, Camarines Sur.

The fatalities were identified as Bahagwant Singh Buttar, 45, and Jaswinder Kaur, 36, married, both of Bgy. San Bartolome, Sipocot, CamSur.
   
One of the suspects, identified as Marvin Vasquez Magdaong, 40, of Bgy. South Centro, Sipocot, was arrested, while the other, Rodolfo Talinghi Gumatay, 53, married, of Dasmariñas, Cavite, escaped.
   
Reports said the incident occurred at 7:45 a.m. on Rolando Andaya Highway in Bgy. Cabu-tagan, Lupi.
   
Investigators said the victims were on board a Mitsubishi Strada (NIE 163) on their way home when the suspects shot them repeatedly.
   
The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies, causing their instantaneous death.
   
Police said that at the height of the shooting, the vehicle of Lupi Mayor Roberto M. Matamorosa, with PO1 Jeric M. Matamorosa, passed by the area.
   
The group tried to help the victims by but they were also shot by the suspects, prompting them to return fire, killing one of the suspects.
