BIFF bomb maker killed in encounter

A BOMB maker of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) was killed in an encounter with combined elements of the Northern Cotabato Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Cotabato City Police Office the other day.

The suspect, identified as Mohammad Nor Hassan, alias Bulaoa and Kamarudin Sulayman, 43, has been involved in the series of bombings in Central Mindanao since 2006.
Reports said the encounter occurred at 5:30 p.m. in Bgy. Central Malamote, Matalam, North Cotabato.
Elements of the CIDG Northern Cotabato and Cotabato City police went to the area to serve a warrant of arrest against the suspect.
However, when the suspect saw the operatives, he attempted to throw a grenade, prompting them to shot him to death.
Police said Hassan is wanted for murder, multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murder.
Recovered from his possession were a cal.r .38 revolver, several ammunition, and a hand grenade.
It was learned that the suspect was also listed as the 18th most wanted personality in the DND-DILG watchlist and has a P1.3 million reward on his head.
