VALENZUELA City’s most wanted drug personality and his cohort were killed during a firefight with authorities yesterday before dawn in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City.
Joint operatives of Valenzuela police and Northern Police District (NPD) were about to serve a warrant of arrest against Jomar Serrano, alias “Boknoy”, in his hideout in Pandi, Bulacan, when they spotted him, together with his cohort, in Marilao, Bulacan, at around 2:30 a.m. on board a blue Mitsubishi Galant (UAE-168) heading towards Valenzuela City.
Operatives immediately chased the suspects but upon reaching Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Ugong, a few meters away from the boundary of Quezon City, the suspects opened fire at the pursuing policemen, prompting them to return fire, hitting the suspects in their bodies that resulted to their untimely death.
Northern Police District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) head Supt. Jose Ali Duterte said Serrano, who was considered No. 1 most wanted in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (Camanava) area, was involved in drug pushing and alleged leader of a gun-for-hire syndicate.
Elements of Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the slain suspects a caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .38 revolver and an estimated one-fourth kilo of suspected shabu.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Supt. Ronaldo Mendoza said they are still conducting a follow-up investigation for the possible identification of the other slain suspect.
