TWO alleged big time drug couriers said to be members of the “Binondo Drug Ring” were arrested by operatives of the Manila Police District who seized from the suspects some 20 kilos of shabu worth P100 million in an anti-drug operation yesterday in Binondo, Manila.
Rommel Rodriguez and Albert Gasingan, both residents of Parañaque City, were apprehended in a buy-bust conducted by elements of MPD Station Anti-Illegal Drugs Division and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at around 4 a.m. after four months of surveillance. A poseur-buyer acted to buy shabu at P300,000.
Police seized 20 kilos of shabu placed in a grey luggage inside the suspects’ car. The shabu were inside a plastic wrapped with carbon paper and aluminum foil.
Police said they are still verifying if the illegal drugs come from another country or they are to be delivered to another country.
Police recovered from the suspects the P300,000 marked money and a .45 cal. gun with some live ammunition.
Police also found that the suspects were involved in the killing of barangay chairman Enrique Echales of Binondo, Manila, last October 13 and Chinese national Hua Tian Shi alias ‘Andy Sy’ on September 17.
