A 75-year-old woman died while her two grandchildren were wounded while trying to escape from their burning house in Quezon City yesterday morning.

The fatality was identified as Loreta Placer and the two injured as Aania Arellano, 14, and Aaron Arellano, 10.
According to Senior Supt. Jesus Fernandez, QC fire marshal, the incident happened at the victims’ house on Ilocos Norte St., Ramon Magsaysay, Bgy. Bago Bantay.
Fernandez said the fire started at 4:57 a.m. at the second floor of the house, particularly in the kitchen.
“Nagluluto umano ang anak ni Placer ng mga pa-nindang ulam sa kanilang kusina nang bigla na lamang may sumabog hanggang sa tuluyang magliyab,” Fernandez said.
The fire quickly spread to the room where the three victims were sleeping.
Placer and her two grandchildren jumped from the window to escape.    She died from severe body injuries.
