Lady Warriors cruise past Lady Maroons

LOVE Sto. Domingo had 19 points and seven rebounds as University of the East stayed on course for a Final Four berth with a 53-39 win over already eliminated University of the Philippines yesterday in the UAAP women’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Eunique Chan added 12 points and seven boards while Ruthlaine Tacula had 10 points, eight assists and five boards as the Lady Warriors posted a 7-3 slate in third place.

Defending champion National University (11-0) and La Salle (8-2) continue to hold the 1-2 spot in the tournament.

Jamie Alcoy shot 16 points while Nathalia Prado and Myra Osano chipped in 10 markers apiece as Adamson outlasted Ateneo, 65-64, in overtime to move in fourth spot at 5-6 in a match which has a lot of implications for the last semifinals berth.

Hazelle Yam led the Lady Eagles with 13 points, Jollina Go had 12 points while Kristina Deacon came through with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Ateneo, which turned the ball over 42 times, fell in fifth spot with its seventh loss in 11 matches.
   
The Lady Maroons, meanwhile, slipped at 1-10 in last place.
