A Philippine Airlines (PAL) aircraft coming to Manila from Los Angeles received a bomb threat an hour before its slated landing.
Carrying 331 passengers and 18 crew members, flight PR103 (Los Angeles- Manila) landed safely at shortly past 5 a.m.
PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said that based on a report from security department vice president Caesar Ronnie Ordoyo, the flight crew alerted PAL Operations Department of the said threat, prompting airport aviation and police authorities to meet the aircraft upon arrival.
Once passenger disembarkation was completed, authorities scoured the cabin and cargo compartments of the aircraft. A subsequent search yielded negative results and the flight was cleared of any bomb.
It was learned that the PAL security department is now working closely with the PNP Aviation Security Group and Airport Police Command in investigating the incident.
“All threats are taken seriously, even if indicative of a hoax. The safety and security of all our flights are of utmost importance,” Villaluna said.
