Man slain by drunk gunman

STA. Teresita, Batangas -- A 67-year-old unemployed man was gunned down by a drunk suspect after a heated argument in Bgy. Bihis, here, the other day.

Police identified the victim as Gilberto Manalo Padua, 67, married, of Bgy. Bihis, and the suspect as Arnold Atienza Holgado, married, jobless, from said barangay.
A concerned citizen informed the police about the  shooting incident that transpired on the national road in Bgy. Bihis.
Detective PO3 Mafriel Magpantay’s investigation showed that the victim went to the house of the suspect at 9:15 p.m.
The suspect and the victim, who were both under the influence of liquor, suddenly had a confrontation regarding the alleged courtship by the suspect to the daughter-in-law of the victim.
At this juncture, the suspect drew a gun and shot the victim twice in the chest.
The bloodied victim managed to cross the road but fell down later while the suspect fled on foot towards the sugarcane plantation heading to Bgy. Buli, Taal town.
The victim was rushed to Polymedic Hospital in Taal where he was pronounced dead by attending physician Dr. Reginal Mercado.
Investigators recovered two empty cartridge casings and one live bullet for cal. .25 at the scene.
Homicide charges will be filed against the suspect, who is still being hunted by policemen.
