High-profile inmate Jaybee Sebastian has changed his mind and now agreed to spill the beans on the illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
His lawyer Eduardo Arriba said Sebastian, who remained at the Muntinlupa Medical Center after sustaining stab wound in the chest, back and arm during the scuffle at the highly secured Building 14 last Wednesday morning, has agreed to cooperate with the probe but with one condition.
“He (Sebastian) said he would only speak about it (Bilibid drug trade) with the President,” he said.
“He said he has a lot of knowledge about the drug trade inside and outside the NBP. He initially refused to talk simply because of fear for his life,” the lawyer explained.
Sebastian, according to the lawyer, has decided to cooperate with the government, believing that the stabbing incident that authorities initially branded as “riot among inmates” could be related to the ongoing investigation on the illegal drug trade.
He added that Jaybee’s confession would not only reveal the connection of the past administration in the illegal drug trade but as well as the current administration.
He added Jaybee, who is now in stable condition, is ready to give his statement on what really transpired behind the stabbing incident last Wednesday.
Jaybee belied earlier claims of Rolando Asuncion, officer-in-charge of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), that a riot took place and that shabu session was taking place that led to the stabbing incident prior to the riot.
He also identified his attacker as Tomas Donena, another inmate and member of Batang City Gang, headed by former policeman Clarence Dongael.
Initial investigation conducted by JO3 Dennis Alfonso of BuCor showed that Dongael was the one who stabbed dead Tony, one of the alleged Chinese drug lords inside NBP.
Asuncion earlier claimed that Dongael accosted the three Chinese (Tony, Peter, Sy) while having shabu session.
He added that Tony resented this and attacked Dongael, who was with Jaybee watching TV in the mess hall of Building 14 at the maximum security compound of NBP that led to the riot.
