Quezon City policemen arrested a former cameraman of a TV network while in possession of illegal drugs at a checkpoint on Minda-nao Avenue on Sunday morning.

Acting Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar identified the suspect as Dennis Ofilada, 38, single, jobless, of 5 Greenfield St., Gloria 2 Subdivision, Tandang Sora, QC.

Investigation showed that operatives of QCPD Station 2 were conducting Oplan Sita in Project 6 when the suspect and the motorcycle driver were flagged down for not wearing helmets.

Police subjected Ofilada to a body search due to his uneasy and suspicious movements and seized from his possession seven plastic sachets of suspected shabu (about 35 grams) with estimated value of P70,000, and his expired TV station ID. The driver of the motorcycle he was riding managed to escape.

The suspect was brought to Masambong Police Station while the confiscated evidence was submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. He will be charged with violation of Section 5 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
