Ex-DA chief kin busted in Quezon

AGENTS of the Provincial Anti- Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group on Sunday arrested the sister-in-law and niece of former Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala in a buy-bust operation in Tayabas, Quezon.

The suspects were identified as  Maria Fe Abutin Alcala and her daughter, Toni Anne.
Maria Fe is the wife of Cirilo Alcala, younger brother of the ex-DA head, and Toni Anne is their daughter.
Seized from the mother and daughter were 24 medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth P212,750 and the P100,000 marked money.
The suspects were arrested in an anti-drug operation at 9:50 p.m. on Sunday at Leverisa Subdivision, Bgy. Isabang, Tayabas City.
Records showed that Toni was included in the list of high value drug targets of the Quezon Provincial Police Office.
Cirilo Alcala alias “Athelano Alcala” earlier surrendered to the Philippine National Police also for a drug offense but was able to post bail. He is now confined in  hospital due to sickness.
The arrested suspects will be charged with violation of Sec. 5 (drug pushing), Sec. 11 (possession of illegal drugs) and  Sec. 26 (conspiracy to sell illegal drugs) of Republic Act 9165  or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
