A still unidentified man ended up dead after allegedly firing at a cop who was accosting him in a dark alley in Tondo, Manila, yesterday.
SPO2 John Charles Duran of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the victim was aged 30 to 35, about 5’3” tall and dark-skinned.
Investigation showed that the incident took place at 1:50 a.m. in front of General Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School located at the corner of Jose Abad Santos Avenue and C.M. Recto in Tondo, Manila.
PO2 Erique Alban Jr. of the Padre Algue Police Community Precinct said they were patrolling the area when they saw the suspect lurking in a dark alley.
Alban got out of the mobile car and introduced himself as a policeman while approaching the suspect.
The suspect allegedly replied by firing at the cops’ direction twice, prompting Alban to shoot back. The suspect was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
