The Manila Police District Special Weapons and Tactics (MPD-SWAT) deployed yesterday at popular Divisoria market and malls in Manila after President Rodrigo R. Duterte declared “state of lawlessness” in the country after a deadly blast ripped through the night market in Davao City Friday.

METRO Manila was placed on high alert  security particularly  at Makati Business Center where several checkpoints were set up.

NCRPO director Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde ordered the security clampdown after President Duterte declared a “state of lawlessness” following Friday night’s bloody explosion at the Roxas District night market in Davao killing at least 15 people while scores were seriously injured.

Albayalde also directed all five district directors, namely Southern Police District, Manila Police, Northern Police, Quezon City Police and Eastern Police Districts and the Regional Public Safety Battalion to stay on alert and maintain 24/7 checkpoints in Metro Manila.

Aside from checkpoints, battle-ready policemen were deployed to public places including malls, banks, gasoline stations, schools, bus terminals, air and sea ports.

Police asked for the public’s cooperation and understanding as the tight security measures are all for their welfare and safety.
