A suspected shabu den in Cebu City was smashed by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency following a raid which resulted in the arrest of eight suspects including a local barangay ‘tanod’ and his son who were believed to be operating the clandestine drug dive, PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said yesterday.
The official identified the arrested suspected drug den operators as Orencio Botero alias ‘Oryong,’ a 55-year-old tanod’ of Bgy. Jandayan Sur in Getafe, Bohol, and his son Gerald, 20.
The two were arrested by members of the PDEA Regional Office 7 headed by Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz during an entrapment operation in Bgy. Calamba, Cebu City which later led in the discovery of the drug den where the other suspects identified as William Paul Cuevas, 34; Ronelo Largado, 27; Christian Conejo, 25; Leonard Cuevas, 23; and Rave Bello, 22, were nabbed.
Recovered during the operation were 18 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing around 67 grams of shabu worth over P400,000, P1,060 in various denominations, two mobile phones, various drug paraphernalia and a marked P500 bill paid to the Boteros by an undercover agent.
Lapeña said the same operating unit also arrested a neighbor of the suspects named Imelda Arroyo, 48, after she sold a packet of dried marijuana leaves to a poseur. The suspect yielded around 40 grams of marijuana worth P4,000, a cell phone and the buy-bust money.
