EMILIO Aguinaldo College and San Sebastian, trying to salvage what's left of their season, posted victories that gave respective opponents a big blow in their Final Four bids yesterday in the NCAA seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Generals halted Jose Rizal University's four-game winning run with a 63-60 victory in a controversial ending, while the Stags downed Lyceum of the Philippines University, 77-69, to extend their winning streak to four games.

Defending champion Letran arrested a alarming five-game losing skid and wheeled back in the Final Four race with a 57-40 dumping of College of Saint Benilde in the last game.

The Bombers had an opportunity to tie  it and force overtime after Teytey Teodoro was fouled attempting a triple by EAC's Igee King.

The referees, however, nullified the foul  after the video review, handing the Generals the win.

JRU, noticing  that there’s still 0.2 seconds when Teodoro was fouled, later placed the game under protest with skipper Jordan dela Paz signing the scoresheet after the outing.

Bombers coach Vergel Meneses, however, looks like he is not too  keen  of pursuing the protest. League  rules state that a protest will be  formalized once  a  team put it in writing within the 24-hour window.

JRU skidded to fifth with a 7-6 record, now half-a-game behind Mapua (7-5) in the race for the last semifinals slot.

The Knights climbed to 6-7 in fifth spot.
